Ford Front Brake Pad Service

New Front Brake Pads for Sale

Part of the regular maintenance of your vehicle is having the brake pads checked and occasionally replaced. The schedule for having this done will vary from each model and year. As a rule of thumb, most vehicles need this service between 20,000 and 60,000 miles. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual to see when the automaker recommends having them serviced.

At Natchez Ford Lincoln, our team of certified technicians can quickly check your brake pads if you think something might be wrong. If your brake pads need replacing, our team can get that taken care of while you wait. We are focused on keeping your vehicle in top shape. That why we get so many taking the short drive from Vidalia, LA, or Taconey, LA.

How Brake Pads Work

Though brake pads are made from a steel plate, they do wear down over time. When you press down on the brake, this causes the brake pad to come in contact with the steel brake and caliper under heavy pressure. The friction created from this contact causes the car to slow to a stop. The natural use of the brake eventually causes the brake pad to wear down. If routine maintenance is not performed, the rotors can be damaged.

Front Brake Pad Replacement Service

When a vehicle is brought in for a front brake pad replacement, our team examines them to determine their condition. They will also look at the entire braking system, including the caliper's condition, rotors, and brakes themselves for the level of wear or damage. Then they will lubricate the whole system after replacing the front brake pads. They will also check the brake fluid quality and top it off if needed.

Indications That Your Front Brake Pads Need to be Replaced

Some vehicles have a dashboard indicator that will let you know that the brake pads have worn down. With older models, though, follow the automaker's maintenance schedule. A high-pitched squeal or grinding noise from the brakes is a clear indication that the brake pads need to be replaced. Other signs that the front brake pads have worn down include vibrations from the steering wheel or drifting when you step on the brake. When the front brake pads are not in good condition, you are in an unsafe driving situation.
