When Ford announced the second generation of its F-150 Raptor off-roading truck, its loyal following of fans were excited, and then apprehensive that the Raptor's powerful V8 was being replaced by a turbocharged V6. But the new 2017 F-150 Raptor has all the power it needs, and then some, to conquer the roughest, wildest terrain. Emme Hall, auto writer for CNET's Roadshow, has the review.

The new Raptor is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that cranks out 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, which is paired with a remarkably smooth effective 10-speed automatic transmission. It also features six selectable terrain modes: Normal, Sport and Weather for pavement, and Mud/Sand, Baja and Rock for...well, mud, sand and rocks. Each mode automatically selects the best transmission, throttle, traction control and steering parameters, but you can override these selections to comply with your own driving style.
